The National Assembly of Venezuela approved in the second reading the first 18 articles of a bill to promote the development of cocoa production, aimed at ensuring sustainable growth of the sector with a focus on agroecology and added value. Deputy Jesús Faría emphasized that the new law establishes principles of social justice in a sector where raw-material producers have historically suffered from inequality in the supply chain. The document provides for the creation of mechanisms for a fairer distribution of income to support small farmers and make the industry more balanced.
